The Pig and Pastry, York

Posted on 09:47 by suresh kumar

I first discovered the Pig and Pastry thanks to my friend Bekah. Every time I went round to her house we used to browse trip advisor looking for highly rated restaurants, and this was one we found; she visited it before me and recommended it! It's not quite in the centre of York, so I don't think it is usually found by tourists, but it is always busy and is a bit of a young mum haunt. It does amazing breakfasts and lunches with friendly service and I'm so glad we discovered it! They don't have a website but here is a picture I took of the menu (it's not that good because I had to try not to look creepy and as if I was taking a picture of the lady sitting right next to it!):

Also the menu does change now and again, but this is a pretty good guide! The most recent time I went was when I got the best photos: it was for breakfast the day after my graduation (which was the best few days ever as I got to choose exactly where we ate and could have whatever I wanted!) with my family and boyfriend, James.

I went for chorizo and scrambled eggs, which I had had on my last visit and loved:

James chose a full English:

I loved the baked beans in the little jar!

My mum and dad both had waffles - my dad had bacon and maple syrup with his, and my mum went for berries and maple syrup:

And Christopher (my brother) had the waffles and bacon, and boiled eggs and soldiers, which led to much confusion when the waitress thought we were ordering too many meals for the table - she's obviously not familiar with our greed!!

It's also great here because you can buy things to take away; they have a selection of quiches, sausage rolls, salads and cakes! I got a chorizo, sundried tomato and cheddar quiche and some potato salad with egg, gherkins, capers and red onions to take home, and my dad bought a huge meringue!

My dad and Christopher
I would recommend this to any of my friends still in York/any one at all in York - and I will be jealous of you all when you go!
